Restaurants:

Fire & Ice. Two Brothers Tavern. The Waybury Inn Pub. Steve's Park Diner for breakfast.

The Robert Frost Interpretive Trail is GREAT. Its on Route 125. A good place to stretch your legs and take a nice walk.

Visit the Morgan Horse Farm.

If you like beer check out the Otter Creek Brewery.

Walk through the Middlebury College Campus - beautiful

If its nice go to the beach at Branbury State Park.

Have fun!

I agree that the Waybury Inn Pub is great. The drive up there is beautiful, too.

The historic Middlebury Inn is a nice place for lunch. And while you're in Middlebury, you could stop at Frog Hollow to peruse the beautiful handcrafted items and artwork; it's fun to look even if you don't buy anything.

Middlebury is just over a half-hour to Burlington and Shelburne, and I highly suggest you make the trip. Burlington's waterfront is spectacularly beautiful, with a view of the Adirondacks on the other side of Lake Champlain. Lots of great restaurants to choose from. You can also take a boat ride on the lake (get tickets at the waterfront) or just sit in one of the garden swings along the promenade and take in the view.

Next door, in Shelburne, one of the top attractions is the Shelburne Museum (www.shelburnemuseum.org), an entire campus of buildings with beautiful and amazing things. (Shuttles take you around the circuit if you don't feel like walking). Among other stops, you can walk through a private rail car from 1890, a home outfitted from the 1950s, and the 1906 passenger steamboat Ticonderoga.

Shelburne is also home to Shelburne Farms (www.shelburnefarms.org), which is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. It was built in 1886 by the Webbs, the same family that created Shelburne Museum. You can watch cheese being made, pet animals in the children's farmyard, walk the beautiful trails, have lunch at the elegant inn or at a little cart near the farmyard (everything fresh and so delicious!), stroll along Shelburne Bay or through the gardens, or take in some of the special activities -- concerts, bird walks, dance performances, programs about gardening and cooking, etc.

Have fun!
