3 nights in early October - can you help?

We'll arrive in Boston on Amtrak hopefully close to 4:30 PM. We want to drive somewhere in New England, or take a bus or train. We've been in this area several times, but hoping to find a town - fairly close to trans to return us to Boston 3 days later. We love Boston, but have been there several times, and also have visited Portland, ME 3 or 4 times. We stayed in Portsmouth NH 3 nights 2 years ago - so trying to find another interesting place to explore and enjoy.

I'm going to check out all the stops on the DownEaster Train, so will be asking more questions from time to time.

Thanks for your time and suggestions!

1. Re: 3 nights in early October - can you help?

Hi Carol - Burlington is about 3.5 hours' drive. There is a bus (which takes quite a bit longer... maybe 4.5-5 hrs?). Stowe is ~3 hours from Boston. Woodstock is ~2.5 hrs. All 3 towns are excellent... and all offer somewhat different experiences.
