Road Trip Boston to Vermont to NH and Maine?

Hello All,

My dad and I are interested in planning a road trip from Nantucket, MA (we'd take the ferry over to Hyannis) and then drive on to Vermont. Our friend lives in Middlebury (Middlebury College) who we would like to see, and we also have a friend at Colby College we would like to visit. We figured we would drive thorough NH as well, of course, but would like to know the best route to see upper New England in autumn, and any recommended stops along the way/for the way back.

Thank you!!!!

Take Rt. 9 West from Brattleboro to Wilmington, then Rt. 100 North until it intersects with Rt. 125 just north of Rochester, then take Rt. 125 west to Middlebury. 2 to 2.5 hours of Vermont rural scenery at its best.
