Monticello, Montpelier--and Ash Lawn?

My family will be heading from DC to Williamsburg, stopping to see Monticello on the way. Would it also be possible to sneak in visits to Montpelier and Ash Lawn on the same, albeit busy, day. If so, which order makes the most sense?

Thank you!

Ash Lawn-Highland is right next to Monticello. Montpelier is a little further away, about 30 miles/45 minutes. Montpelier is closed on Mondays.

You can check times open and other info on the websites to help you decide which order to visit them in.

If I were you, I would plan to spend one night in Charlottesville as that would be a lot in one day. D.C. to Charlottesville is about 2 1/2 hours and from Charlottesville to Williamsburg is a good 2 1/2 to 3 hours. That's already 5 hours of plain driving from City to City.

We did all three in one day without feeling rushed.
