We were planning on visiting Mount Vernon on a Wednesday morning and then drive to Gettysburg - spend the night and see the sights there the next morning and then drive back to Alexandria stopping at the National Cathedral on the way back.
However, I read on here that Mount Vernon is very busy in the mornings with school kids. We'll be there the week after Easter. Do you think it would be better to go straight to Gettysburg and see the things there and then come back in the morning stopping at the Cathedral and then go to Mount Vernon?
Also, is there anything around Frederick, MD worth stopping for?
