I have not heard of this hotel (and used to work in event planning in DC), but the reviews on Trip Advisor are not positive. I hope someone has first hand experience to share.

i would like to spend no more than $450 for hotel stay i have to take into account food, entertainment and metro fare, etc

I'm not laughing. Have you thought of bidding for a room using Priceline? If you're traveling alone and/or need a room with only one bed in it, Priceline is a good option. For help with the bidding process, look at :

yes, in fact i was looking at the Four Points by Sheraton New Carrollton and a quality inn, silversprings, md days inn in college park. do u know anything about these?? i guess i don't want to be too far from the metro and it will be my first time in dc

I wouldn't stay in New Carrollton--it's not the best of areas. Silver Spring and College Park are ok if the hotel is either near a Metro station or if not the hotel offers a free shuttle to the nearest one.
