Hi,

I will be staying 2 nights in Washington DC 29 June/1 July.

When I am on holidays I prefer to spend my money on museums and shopping, but I would like to taste some nice but budget restaurantes.

I am looking for amusements too.

After I see all the major monuments where should I go for shopping, sightseeing and food ?

All the best museums and galleries in DC, with one or two exceptions, are free. No admission charge. So you should have more money to spend on food.

There are many, many decent restaurants in DC that are not in the expensive range. You need to give a few more specifics in order to get good answers. One suggestion: as you finish looking at the White House, head across Lafayette Square and walk NW up Connecticut Avenue towards Dupont Circle. You will pass some interesting shops and end up in an area with many restaurants. And there will be some historic homes and a few small museums if you are so inclined.

There are several Masonic temples in and around DC. The grandest one is in Alexandria, not far from the King Street Metro stop.

Georgetown has a lot of shopping and restaurants. But it isn't that close to The Mall and the usual DC memorials.

Washington is also home to a Scottish Rite temple (http://www.scottishrite.org/) on 16th Street. I have never been in the building, but it is a very impressive structure and they have tours etc...
