If we stay in Old Town alexandria, is it convenient to get into DC for sightseeing?

If you stay on the edge of Old Town Alexandria close to the King Street Metro station, it is not at all difficult to ride into DC for touring. If you stay in Old Town closer to the waterfront, which is a great area, your trip into DC will be more difficult using public transportation. The City of Alexandria covers a big area and some of it is not at all convenient. You need to specify where you plan to stay.

Your hotel in Old Town Alexandria may have a shuttle bus that goes directly to the metro. It is a pretty short cab ride from the waterfront to the metro. There are a number of hotels right around the metro so if you're thinking you want to stay in Old Town and be close to the metro, see if you can find one of those.
