Hotel; Seeking "WOW" factor and nightlife location

Suggestions for a hotel with a WOW factor and active nightlife nearby?

This is for a mother-daughter (s) mini-vaca~ any suggestions for a hotel with a little pazazzz ?

Not looking for crazy nightlife, but want a lively area with plenty of choices ( live music would be great!) and a good eatery or two.

"Mom" is adventurous but probably not super comfortable in a place filled entirely with young 20somethings. A little bit 'o class is appreciated.

Trying to keep the hotel cost under $300/room/night but can go a little more if it seems worth it~dates are March 25 & 26 2011.

Thanks!!!!

I'm not sure of the room prices but the "W" hotel is gorgeous and has a great location right on 15th street. The P.O.V. rooftop lounge has some of the best views in the city.

I don't know about prices, but I would check out the Hotel Palomar on P Street NW near Dupont Circle. http://www.hotelpalomar-dc.com/

I'll take a look at both hotels- are the neighborhoods around these hotels lively in the evenings? The W is very close to the White House, so maybe not so much going on?

The Sofitle is very classy and walking distance to the White House and Smithsonian Museums. We dined at Plume @ the Jefferson Hotel while we were visiting the area, it is a VERY elegant and classy, small boutique hotel. :)

I suggest checking out some of the other Kimpton Hotels! My personal favorites in DC proper include the Hotel Monaco Washington, DC and the Hotel Madera.

That is a busy time in DC, but also check out the Hotel Monaco--great restaurants and nightlife in the Penn Quarter area. The Dupont Hotel would also be a great choice--Dupont Circle is my favorite area in the city.

OK - this is what I found:

G-Town Inn.....$199

Palomar..........$ 299

Sofetil...............$ 200

Monaco.............$ 229

Rouge..............$189

Carlyle.............$ 169

Topaz..............$ 199

Fairmont.........$ 299

Dupont.............$ 193

other than the Palomar & the Fairmont @ $299, the range is $169 to $200 ; only $30 / night difference (taxes not included). These are the lowest rates I could find for these hotels, i.e., the cheapest room type.

Is it worth the addtl $100/night for the Palomar?

OK , TAers, what is the best deal??

You have to pay extra for WOW. For a decent hotel, no need to pay extra.
