Accommodations on the Metro Line

Older single male spending a week in DC. Looking for inexpensive, clean, decent hotel/accommodations that are within 2-3 blocks of a good Metro line. Will only be using public transportation to get about. Plans are to sightsee DC's major attractions, including the Smithsonian and the Mint.

There are lots of hotels within 2 - 3 blocks of Metro stations. If you want specific recommendations, EXACT dates and nightly budget in USDs are needed. Are you willing to prepay or use discount websites?

Look in Rosslyn and Crystal City in VA.

There is no Mint in DC but there is the Bureau of Engraving & Printing.

You need to give a budget in dollars. We don't know what you consider inexpensive. 2-3 blocks isn't much at all, and some hotels further than that have shuttles, though if you are on a tight budget this can get more difficult. You could consider Hotwire or Priceline, but you won't know the exact hotel before paying, thus you won't know how far you might be from a Metro rail (we assume you mean Metro rail) location.

Try Holiday Inn Rosslyn Key Bridge (or something like that) in Arlington, very close to a Metro stop that is just a ten minute trip to the Smithsonian stop. Very affordable and free parking. There aren't many restaurants nearby, however. We stayed there several years back and will be going again this weekend.
