My family and I are looking for a tasty Italian dinner. Any suggestions?

My favorite Italian restaurant, for a moderate price, is Otello. It is just south of Dupont Circle. Not fancy, but good food and a nice ambiance. http://www.otellodc.com/ There are certainly better Italian places in DC, but the prices can get high, depending on what you are looking for.

I like Siroc and Ristorante Tosca downtown, but they can get expensive, depending on your budget.

You could try a lunch at Fiola, supposed to be AMAZING.

What we are saying is unlike in NYC, you have to spend a lot of money to have a nice Italian dinner in DC, and that's unfortunate.

DC is not known for having good Italian food. That said, you did get some good suggestions.

Bistro Italiano is good and reasonably priced.

Al Aqua 2 is delicious and expensive.

I'm with #4 and you may need to temper expectations accordingly vs. the Italian back home. That having been said, I'd go with Dino in Cleveland Park.

In my opinion, NYC is so much better for Italian food than DC at/any price point...that I suggest considering something that DC does well in...Chesapeake Bay crab, if you like seafood, or Jaleo for tapas, etc.
