My friend and I (20-somethings) are looking for hotel deals in DC for New Year's. We'd be staying this Sunday-Wednesday (New Year's Day). There's an excellent deal in Arlington for $66/night, and we'd have to walk over the bridge to get to Georgetown, which we don't mind.
However, we'd want to go out elsewhere in DC too, (likely DuPont circle). So, two questions:
1) Is Georgetown a ghost town this time of year? We'd be game for hanging out there, as long as places (bars, restaurants, etc) are open.
2) Even though we don't mind walking a bit extra, is staying in Arlington a hassle to get to other places in DC? There are numerous hotel deals right now, so we'd have some other (albeit slightly more expensive) options.
