Marriott hotels

We are hoping to come to Washington DC for our first visit at the end of May. We have enough Marriott points for the stay but are really unsure which one is in the best area for us. Having read other posts I can see that getting about will be quite easy but we would like to be in an area where we can get out and about in the evening for dinner, etc without having to get taxis. Can anyone give us some recommendations? Thanks.

We've stayed at 3 of the Marriott brand hotels in DC and thought they were all conveniently located.. the JW Marriott, the Courtyard Marriott Convention Center, and the Mayflower Renaissance. I'd have to give the edge, in terms of getting out in the evening for dinner without having to take a taxi, to the Courtyard Convention Center.

Agreed, for the location you're seeking the preference should be Courtyard Marriott Convention Center as it's close to all the Penn Quarter restaurants you'll want for dinner. Second choice per location would be JW Marriott. Enjoy your trip!

The Marriott Courtyard at Dupont Circle is a nice hotel and there are a lot of restaurants in that neighborhood, so it makes for a nice place to stay. It isn't right in the downtown core, so you'll have to take the Metro a few stops for your sightseeing, but it is an interesting neighborhood.

Marriott Metro Center always get high marks on TA and besides being convenient to all metro lines is in a great location for dining.

I agree with some of the other posters. JW Marriott is the closest to all the sites around the National Mall and the Marriott Metro Center is only a couple of blocks further away but has direct access to the Metro lines where you can easily get to almost anywhere in the DC area.
