I work a couple of blocks off the Mall, near the Tidal Basin, and our agency has encouraged employees to telework August 4-6, due to road closures and traffic related to an international summit. Sounds like a bad time to drive anywhere near the Mall, Southwest, and Foggy Bottom. You can google for more information, and below is a blurb from the Washington Post.
An international gathering is going to close streets, restrict parking, detour buses and generally add to commuting difficulties on the west side of the District next week.
The centers of activity during the U.S.–Africa Leaders Summit will be in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood, around the White House and in Southwest Washington north of Maine Avenue and east of the Tidal Basin. Key events will be held at the National Academy of Sciences, the World Bank, the White House and the Mandarin Oriental hotel.
