Girls weekend

My sister and I (late 40's) are looking for a place to take our 80 year old mother for a "girls weekend", preferably in Western Wiscionsin. Looking for a scenic town with good shopping and restaurants. I am in the Twin Cities and they are in Southeastern Wisconsin, so somewhere inbetween would be ideal. We've already been to Door County, La Crosse, Madison and Milwaukee.

Thanks so much!

Are you looking to keep it near to the I-94 path then or are you willing to go north? Eau Claire (maybe too close to you) or Rice Lake. Rice Lake is a pretty area and has a fair amt. of shopping and dining there's Norske Nook for starters. Taking the map into consideration perhaps Wausau (Rib Mtn. is there) and StevensPoint. They're both scenic (Schmeeekle Reserve is very nice) I don't know the shopping scene well however but you could check it out. Wausau is bigger and there seems to be a good amt. of shopping. Marshfield maybe a possibility for shopping too. I'm not sure on the rest as I'm not overly familiar with Marshfield.

Wisconsin dells could be a option too.there are the outlet malls, movie theatres ,several spas, ho chunk casino , scenic drives to Devil s Lake State Park, possibly a scenic boat or duck ride and lots good restaurants.

The root river area in the south east corner of Minnesota is also very nice. Also consider Galena,Illinois/ Dubuque Iowa for wineries, lots of quaint shops, Ulysses S Grant house .

Decorah in northeast Iowa would be perfect for you: midwestweekends.com/plan_a_trip/history_heri…

Otherwise, since you seem to plan these getaways regularly, I'd alternate.

I love Mineral Point for girlfriend getaways, though it's much closer to SE Wisconsin,/www.midwestweekends.com/plan_a_trip/shopping_eating/shopping_towns/mineral_point_art_tour.html

And Hudson is much closer to you, midwestweekends.com/plan_a_trip/shopping_eat…
