Want to head to Granite Peak in Wausau WI to ski with family. Looking for lodging. Are there any condos on or near the mountain?

nope.

it's not a ski resort like out west.... it's a ski hill, with nearby hotels and maybe some nearby condo rentals.... check VRBO for rental possibilities....

here's my review of a hotel we stayed at this past summer.... it's maybe 5-10 minutes from the hill......

FYI, the only midwest ski resort that even remotely resembles an out-west type resort (condos, chalets, gonolas etc) is lutsen on minnesota's north shore......and to some extent, mt bohemia in the U.P. near copper harbor.... they have communal yurts at the resort, but i'm not sure they're suitable for families, if you catch my drift.......

The Rib Mountain Inn is quite popular and offers townhouses and villas. Best of all its located right on the mountain. I haven't stayed there in years since I now live here, but it was very good then. If it’s booked out many of the hotels offer free shuttle service to Granite Peak. A couple of other ideas to consider, The Jefferson Inn in downtown Wausau is within walking distance to bars and restaurants and they have larger accommodations. Some of the popular area eateries are The Red Eye Brewery, Back When café, and City Grill.

Granite peak was taken over several years ago by new ownership. They have done an outstanding job upgrading everything. Lift capacity is incredible and you will rarely if ever see a lift line. They have a very nice tavern on site as well as a cafeteria type restaurant. Enjoy your trip!
