Disneyland In August

Hi

I'm heading to Disneyland in 14th August - 18th August and am fully booked and wish it was time 2 go already.

I was speaking to some relatives who mentioned that the schools in amercia may be on holidays in august. Now being from Australia I'm not sure of the amercia school terms. So will there be school holidays during August? Or are my relatives just jealous I'm going on a fanstastic holiday? :)

Thanks Ashley

Of course you'll have a great time!!!!!

Yes, It will be crowded and possibly quite warm also. Plan accordingly by drinking lots of water and trying to get to the park when it first opens to avoid some of the crowds.

Enjoy.

I usually go in August and enjoy it very much. It is hot and you can wear shorts even late at night. You will be fine with Fast Pass and so many days. Are you going solo or is that just your name? I have gone solo a lot. Did you know that DL and DCA have some rides with Single Rider Pass?

No I didn't know you could get a single rider pass... could you explain that to me please?

Thanks

i have been in august a few times, it is very hot, you can take frozen water bottles into the park, or they have cold ones allways to purchase as well as frozen lemonade cups

but there are plenty of places to cool off when it gets hot, and a few rides that are pretty long and cool inside,

such as for disneyland park,

its a small world, the enchanted tiki room (my favorite place to cool off and have a nice cool dole whip there), haunted mansion, pirates of the carribean, splash mountain(you will get wet, indiana jones ride, once you are inside the caves.

and indoor entertainment such as bill hill and the hillbillies at the golden horseshoe, great moments with mr lincoln, main street cinema, innovations building

for california adventure park indoor attractions

anamation academy, disneys aladdin show, grizzley river run(you will get very wet), its tough to be a bug, muppet vision 3d movie, sorcerers workshop, turtle talk with crush, and blue sky cellar to look at all the different things comming up at disneyland

even though it will be crowded, it is fun also as there is lots going on and the park is open late every night with firework and fantasmic nightly,

best advice is to arrive right when disneyland opens, there is little wait times that first few hours after opening time, so go on the rides you are most interested in , then when it gets busy at disneyland park, you can hop over to california adventure park where is is usually less crowded.

i dont really think there is anything anywhere like disneyland, im sure you will have a good time,

the hottest time of the day is about 1pm to 3 pm or so,

you could allways go back to your hotel for a nap or rest.during that time as well.

Single Rider Pass is available on Indiana Jones Adventure and Splash Mt. in Disneyland Park and they each also are part of the Fast Pass system. I have forgotten which rides in DCA Patk use Single Rider Pass and there are about four good ones. With Single Rider you see the cast member on the outside of the ride and ask for the pass. They then direct you where to go to get on the ride. This may mean you enter through the exit and end up at the loading area. Before loading you are told where to go to hear the safety instructions. Then you may stand in a very small line with other single riders or you may be assigned a seat right away. They try to fill an empty seat on a ride vehicle so they can balance it.

With Single Rider Pass you are able to get on and off the ride quickly and move on to the next thing you want to do. With Fast Pass you are able to use a shorter and faster line. Fast Pass allows you to see the imaginative queues, but Single Rider kind of bypasses that experience. So I like to recommend that for your first ride on Indiana Jones, for example, you choose to use Fast Pass and experience the creativity that Disney puts into queue areas. Do you know how to use the Fast Pass system? Would you like tips on how to make the most of it?

I'm going to add two Disneyland rides to happytotrip's list of the ones that are good when you need to cool down. Disneyland Railroad (if you don't have to wait long to get on) and the Mark Twain Riverboat. Once the Mark Twain starts moving on the river I always feel a cooling breeze that is such a relief. By the way, the boats on the river close in the late afternoon to prepare for Fantasmic
