Is 1 day enough to attend both Disneyland and Cali adventure

Hello,

We are going to go California at the end of September for vacation. We have a limited about of time for this vacation. Originally we were going to budget a day to go to Disneyland and a day to go to California adventure park.

We no longer have the time to spend 2 days going to both, as we have decided to do other things as well, such as go to universal studios and see other things in the LA area.

I was wondering if you all think 1 day on a weekday would be a decent amount of time to go to both Disneyland and California adventure park.Or with only one day should we just stick to just Disneyland.

We are staying at a hotel that is 1 block from Disneyland and plan to arrive at the theme park right when it opens and still till it closes. So dedicating the entire day.

If this helps, there are 2 of us going on this vacation and we are both in our mid - late 20s.

Thanks, in advance.

In my opinion, no it is not enough. Especially if the park hours are short. For someone who has been to both parks multipule times it may work, but not for someone who hasn't.

No way even close. You need at least 2 days and even then, you'll still miss some things. But if that's all you have, then you better decide ahead of time what your priorities are to see and do.

What dates are you planning on visiting? That may make a difference in what we suggest especially if one of your dates happends to be the starting date of the Mickey's Halloween Party nite.

You might consider the two Park as one big Park. I would at least consider getting the 2 day Parkhopper if you are not planning on a third day. The reason is, you may find you like one Park much more than another one, or certain rides you want to revisit, or a Park may be more crowded than another Park is. It just helps you alot and gives you alot of flexability with only 2 days for a visit. And since the two Park entrances are located directly across from each other, and a short distance apart, its easy to just hop to another Park

You may also want to consider staying closer to Disneyland to maximize your time better so you dont spend time on shuttles. There are many standard places to stay directly across the street from Disneyland.

Happy, the OP is visiting the Disney resort for just one day.

Kleeq, what does 'enough' mean? Obviously, you're not going to be able to go to every ride and attraction in each park in just one day. If you want a 'brief taste' of each park, then go for the 1 day park hopper; if you'd rather concentrate on just one park (don't worry, they'll be plenty to see), just go to one park.

A compelling reason to go to both parks is if you have an interest in SPECIFIC rides or attractions in BOTH parks. In such a case, your only option would be go to both parks.

Sorry about that I misunderstood..

No, one day is not enough time even to see one park well. Just a small portion of whats offered at both Parks. If you only want a day, then pick the Park that interests you most. Usually Disneyland Park only is suggested for a 1 day visit.

With only one day, even more reason to stay in close walking distance.

kleeq, this is one of those back and forth conversations, so ask me next week on the Golden Princess, and we can sort it out then....

Thanks for the advice everyone. Some things I have to think about. Just to let everyone know, we are planning to to go to the theme park on Friday, September 27. We are also staying only a block away from Disneyland.

Is it possible to buy a 1 day Disneyland pass then later in the day upgrade to a 1 day park hopper pass?

Thanks in advance.

It's tight. But since you don't have kids..start early and stay until closing. Hit the major rides first. Two days much better but since you can't then the one will give you the experience.

Yes you can upgrade to a 1 day Parkhopper ticket from a 1 day 1 Park ticket if you choose to at any of the ticket windows at Disneyland, but it is only good for that day.

I dont know if we have mentioned this before, but that Friday Sept 27th is a Mickey's Halloween Party nite, so hours are a little earlier in the morning as Disneyland Park only closes a little early to regular guests. No regular Fireworks show or Fantasmic on that date.

So you could just visit for that day during regular hours, but expect an influx of people around 4pm that can come in early for the Party nite.

Or, If you want to arrange things around a little, you could just visit Disneyland Park for the MIckey's Halloween Party nite on that date which will allow you into Disneyland Park only 3 hours before regular Park opening time so for you date hours would be 4pm-12pm. The advantage is the cost is only $59 for advance purchase tickets for the Party nite, it give you a few hours less time than going before the Party nite, but has the advantage of costing less, and would offer Special Fireworks on that nite as well as other things. Advantages are also there are less people within the Park during the Party nites as tickets are limited. Heres more info on the Mickey's Halloween Party nites.
