Firefighters coming to Anaheim

My partner and I (along with our 3 kids and my parents) are coming to Anaheim in April 2014 (From New Zealand) and we were wondering if there were any specials/discounts that you can get for being a member of the fire service. (A bit cheeky but if you don't ask you don't know)

we were planning on Disneyland for 3 days and exploring for the rest of the 9 days (Then I think were going to Vegas for 5 days) Anyway we were looking online for some good fire house museums to visit so if anyone could recommend some. Also I really want to go horse riding while I'm there (and try to get him to ride to lol) so could anyone recommend a good stable for a beginner and an experienced rider.

Were staying 2mi from Disney but will have a car so happy to drive a little way out...

Thanks in advance

Welcome to forum posting Spoungebob34,

Im not aware of any special discounts offered for Firefighters.

You may want to check the Mousesavers website is a resource based website that lists current discount on attraction for you ( they dont sell tickets) They have a list of various discounts that may be offered.

mousesavers.com/disneyland-california-vacati…

For a 3 day visit, its not convenient Imo to stay 2 miles from Disneyland. Nor would you need to to that to either get inexpensive accomodations or a Condo of some sort. The Good deal that you may be getting may not be as good once you factor in 3 days of driving, parking and walking into Disneyland. Parking is also $16 per day at Disneyland. You would need to allow 30 min each time you went in or out of the Park. Just something to think about.

Heres a Map of Hotels in the Disneyland area so you can see where things are located. The Disneyland Main Entrance is off of Harbor Blvd near where it says "East Shuttle Area" on the Map

There is the LA County Firefighter Museum in Bellflower (not far from Anaheim), a great restaurant in Downtown LA, Engine Co. 38 that still has the brass fire pole in the middle of the restaurant.

Not sure how old your kids are, but 5 days in Vegas and 3 in Anaheim is bassackwards. Unless the kids are all 21+ I'd go 5 in Anaheim/Orange County, 3 in Las Vegas.

Thanks for that scotta the museum sounds good. Were spending 3 days at the parks and then 4 days exploring Anaheim/ orange county.

The kids are (turning) 12 (when were there) 13 and 14 and given the amount of things do do around Vegas (that aren't in casinos) 5 days will be enough

There is actually a small firehouse in Disneyland Park, on the left side of Main Street's Town Square. As you enter Disneyland, go through the tunnel on the left to enter Main Street and you will walk right up to it. It is right next to the large Emporium store. Some trivia: Walt Disney and family had a private apartment above the Firehouse, which is preserved. You can see a lamp in the window. It is always on in Walt's memory. It is easier to tell it is on at night or on a day without bright sunshine. At Christmastime it is replaced with a small lighted Christmas tree.

Thank you for your service. Were you in Austrailia during the recent fires?

Sorry, the link did not work . Just google Disneyland Fire Station to find related information.

It is also possible to buy a figurine of the Disneyland Fire House. Take a look in the Disneyana store on the other side of Town Square for that.

I've not been to them, but there are a couple of old fire stations converted into museums, one in San Pedro, the other in Hollywood. You may want to research and see if they appeal to you.

Also, you may want to try contacting the LA Fire Department or the Orange County Fire Authority and see if they'd be willing to let you come visit one of their active stations as a professional courtesy to their fellow firefighters.

5 days actually IN Las Vegas is too long.

Days that involve Grand Canyon , Red Rocks, Valley of Fire, and Death Valley would be OK.

Las Vegas really isn't a great place for kids. Too much raunch on display.

You mentioned horseback rides. Try looking into Irvine Regional park. I have not been there but thinking about going next trip. I have read that the park has horse rides, zoo, bike & paddle boat rentals. It is a 12 mile drive from Disneyland.

Theres nothing wrong with spending a few day in Las Vegas for families. From what I have heard people from out of Country are used to more extreme stuff than we have here, so I dont think thats an issue.
