The two closest Motels to the Disneyland Resort Main Entrance Plaza are the Park Vue Inn and the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn & Suites. They are closer than the Disney owned Hotels.

But they are basic Motels, if you want something nicer, look into the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel or the Residence Inn Maingate.

Welcome to the forums MarciaC1972,

Lots of options. It depends on what you may be looking for as said. We can help you better if you can give us a budget per night for a place to stay, and a little more info about what kind of accomodation you are looking for. Dates are also very helpful as prices vary widely with the different times of year.

So you can see where things are located. Here is a Map of Hotels in the Disneyland area. The Disneyland Main Entrance is off of Harbor Blvd near where it says "East Shuttle Area" on the Map.

I would look at the Fairfield Inn, Best Western Plus Anaheim Inn, Best Western Plus Park Place Inn and maybe Howard Johnson's if you are coming when the weather is warmer; young kids seem to enjoy HoJo's water play area.

If you're looking for convenience and budget is not a factor, you can't do much better than the Disneyland Hotel and its direct link to the park via monorail. At least that was the case our last visit (admittedly it's been a few years).

Or the Grand Californian (depends on what you think is "not too expensive"). If you could give an idea of your budget, folks could be more helpful.

The Disneyland Hotel does not have a direct link to the Monorail system. The Monorail is located in Downtown Disney which is about a 5 min walk to get to there and perhaps a bit longer depending on where you are staying at the Disneyland Hotel. And it doesnt run all of the time, or on a very set schedule from what I have seen. The Disneyland Hotel is about a 10 min walk to the Turnstiles that go into either Park.

The Best Western Park Place Inn is actually the closet to the entrance at a short 5 min walk across the street to the Turnstiles that go into either Park. Then depending on where you are staying at the Grand Californian if its close to Downtown Disney, thats also about a 6 min walk from that area.

Sounds like the monorail-Disneyland Hotel setup has changed. It used to let you out just off the lobby of the hotel.

The monorail and the main Disneyland Hotel lobby are both where they have been for close to 45 years, maybe longer.

When the DLH first opened and it was a low rise hotel, the monorail was just off the main lobby, but the lobby moved to the Marina Tower in 1969 and has been there ever since.

Try the Faifield Inn Marriott. It is a low budget Marriott Hotel. It is Centrally located and on off seasons you can sometimes get it for like $89 a night. From Trip Advisor reviews it also sounds pretty good.

There's also hotels like Tropicana, Best Western Park Place, Park Vue, Desert Inn. They are all right there. If you are looking for Value but cleaner look father out from Disneyland. Hyatt Orange County rooms are like $60 there is a Shuttle to the parks and it is only like 7 years old. Its cleaner than the hotels right close to Disneyland since they don't get used as much as the others.

If you want clean but close stay at one of the Disney Hotels and fork out that $300 a night.

Also If you are not renting a car you could use the Disneyland Resort Shuttle that runs to most of the Hotels. I know that it runs to the Disney Hotels and to the Best Western Plus. It runs from SNA that has airlines like Alaska Airlines, Southwest, American Airlines and Westjet.

It also runs from LAX that has Airlines like Southwest, Air Tran, Air Canada, Westjet, Virgin America, Allegiant Air, Alaska Airlines, American Air, United, and U.S Airways.

They have family deals for larger family's. It only runs to LAX and SNA so make sure that is your airport and these airlines are at the Terminals that they stop at.
