Coming in Sept where to stay with pool

1st time looking for a nice place with pool for kids. Husband wants to golf. Is there somewhere that has great ammenties ocean view windows that open or a balcony. Maybe a golf cart included for getting around. and is close enough so he can golf. Kinda picky like comfort, flavor, views, ammenties. any comments are appreciated. Close to beach is good as well for kids

Hamilton Cove is your best bet. Some of the balconies are common but most offer private. ARe your kids the same gender?, if so then pick a one bedroom and the kids can sleep on the queen sofa bed. You will have 1 3/4 baths, so no need to share bath room space with children. Your villa will come equipped with a golf cart, so don't worry about renting a cart. Some of the villas have hot tubs, some are set up like town houses. All have magnificent views. Bring an ice chest with the meats and perishables that you may want to cook. There are two Vons on the island, shop there for milk, eggs, etc ... but not vegetables and fruit. With children, you will want some consistency, so the villa is your best bet because of the kitchen set up and washer/dryer. There is a private beach and a pool, jacuzzi, health club, tennis etc. Try to get a villa that has multiple french doors ( bedroom, living room, etc.) Nevermind the fireplace, you will sleep with your doors open most nights ( it's that safe! and that warm). A lot of the villas are equipped with tv/dvd/vcr/cd. Imagine, Greece or Italy or even Spain with the beautiful woodwork and archways. The disadvantage to staying in a hotel in town is that you have to contend with the walking talking tourists but at Hamilton cove, it's a gated community without the noise and wandering crowds.

Goodluck with your stay, if you have anymore questions send an e-mail jahnavida@yahoo.com

Don't stay at the Best Western -- it's a pigsty! Unfortunately, it's one of the few hotels on the island with a pool. Read the numerous bad reviews about it if you're tempted to stay here.

Stick to hotels close to the beach and let your kids swim in the ocean. The small sandy beach on Crescent Ave. is clean and the water looks nice and clear and calm. The Descanso Beach Club is in a small cove around the bend from Avalon Bay, past the Casino. It's open to the public, a good place to take kids. There are numerous activities available on the pier: snorkeling, diving, paddle boats for rent, and glass bottom boat rides. The "submarine" ride doesn't actually submerse, it floats partially underwater for viewing the fish and seaweed in the shallow waters close to shore.

The Catalina Country Club is open to the public for golf, it's back in the canyon behind Avalon, away from the ocean and close to the "roach motel" Best Western. Past the Country Club are stables/horseback riding. Have fun!
