It's impossible to predict the snow; conditions have varied greatly the past few years.

We've stayed at The Gant twice, and it was very nice.

That being said, next time I'd probably stay slopeside at Snowmass. When we're in Aspen for a week, we tend to ski four of the days at Snowmass, so would like to be close.

In a typical winter January is an excellent time to ski Colorado. Don't judge this past season as typical. It was not good. Next year could be like it was the season before last when we had nearly epic conditions.

Links that follow should help you get started but know that not all winter pricing will be available yet. Good for the wallet hat after the first week of Jan rates will fall considerably from the holiday week. Pick a few places and I and others who frequent the area will give you feedback. Personally, I'd prefer staying in town. Best night life and great selection of restaurants. If your an intermediate or above skier you'll have loads of fun on Aspen Mountain. Snowmass is a 20 minute free bus ride away and offers and huge selection of terrain.
