Hi, we'll be staying on Longboat Key last 2 weeks of June and would like to take a boat or kayak tour or both. We are 2 adults and 2 children, 11 and 4 years old. The 4 years old is very energetic, so there is a very real safety concern on both a boat and a kayak. Would really appreciate an advice. Here is what we found so far and can't decide between them:
1. Sea Life Kayak Adventures on Lido Key in the mangrooves. They said the guide would take me and the younger son in his double kayak and will do all teh paddling, so I can hold my son at all times, and my husband and 11 years old would take another double kayak.
2. Captain Kim charters off Anna Maria. I like everything about it: the price, the small group, the captain, except 1 thing. The boat is very open -- will have to literally hold on to 4 years old the whole tour.
3. Boat tour with the Mote aquarium. No safety concerns here, but the boat is large, with many people in it.
Ideally, we would like a small boat like Captain Kim's, but with walls to restrain our 4 years old.
Did you go to any of those and what do you think? Some other suggestions?
