Fishing the flats-what to wear

I'm going to be taking my old dad fishing. Besides covering up on top what kind of foot wear, if any, would you suggest he wear?

thanks for any info.

Wading shoes are fine, we do have fire coral, urchins, rays etc but not enough to justify the really heavy boots that you can get for wading in serious territory(anyone want to buy two pairs, never worn?)

Other tips, take something warm to wear, a fleece for example, as it can be chilly on the way back no matter how hot the day. If you decide to wear sandels for wading, wear a pair of thick socks, to prevent sand chafing.

A floppy hat or a long peaked hat with Foreign Legion style neck protector is better than a baseball cap. Anglers always forget to put enough sunblock on 1) their hands 2 the tops of their ears 3) their feet. Technical clothing, designed to block sun, is better than ordinary stuff. T-shirts are hot to wear and dry out slowly if they get wet.

Oh, and for next time, the fishing in the south is better than the north!
