Is better to take the Ferry or Fly from Belize City to San Predro?
ferry is cheaper and slower, flying is faster and pricier......your call
If you've just landed at the International airport, flying is easier.
For the water taxi, you need a taxi trip (BZ$50 & about 20 minutes) to Belize City.
Better is such a subjective term. We always fly. After a long day of travel, the last thing I want to do is drag my bags around a few more times and delay my arrival by a couple of hours.
Yes, it costs more, but, worth every penny to me.
Agreed after a long day of travel flying is the easiest way to go and you can't beat the view.
If you want to get a boat ride in a day trip to Caye Caulker is a good option.
I prefer the view, comfort and convenience of the flight.
Flying is the way to go. Short hop with a great view.
We did as Tacogirl suggests. 14 minute flight vs. 90 minute ferry. We took the water taxi to CC for a day trip.
No contest plus at 2000 ft cruising altitude it's a pretty ride.
Flying is quicker and easier. However it is cheaper, and more relaxing to to take a taxi from the airport (fixed fare of some US$25 and a 20 minute journey) to Belize Municipal Airstrip and fly from there. The fare, adult and child, from Belize International Airport to San Pedro is US$72. From Belize Municipal Airport the fares are US$41.50 for an adult and US$29 for a child. Have a look at my photos of Belize Municipal Airstrip. The Hangar Bar is a great place to chill out over a beer with a great view of the sea and yards to the terminal whilst waiting for your plane. As the planes fly every half past the hour from 0730 hours to 1830 hours there is not much waiting time.
Thanks everyone for their replys it sounds like we are going to fly.....
