Resort Pool & golf cart rental

We have never been to Belize but hubby is very interested due to the fishing opportunities. Which resort south of the bridge has the best swimming pool and the best "big resort" feel to it?

Also on vacations, we like to scoot around town in golf carts. I understand that there is a place to rent golf carts in San Pedro but are golf carts allowed on San Pedro's streets (like say, in Key West)?

Thanks!

There are very few cars on Ambergris, it's mostly golf carts. In fact, there's way too many of them. Downtown streets are very congested. Several places to rent them, cost is a bit over US$300.00 a week.

There simply aren't any large resorts on Ambergris. Most places are less than 50 rooms, I'm guessing every place south of the bridge is less than 50 rooms.

I'd take a look at Victoria House or the Phoenix. Both have nice pools. Victoria House has more expansive grounds.

San Pedro is a small town of some 6,000 people. If you want to scoot around town, walk or cycle. It is much more fun and you will better see and enjoy San Pedro.
