Water Quality

do we need to be careful about eating at restaurants or anywhere due to poor water quality? I have seen a few posts mention that you want to use bottled water, but I haven't seen anywhere that people are getting sick necessarily. Part of our group got sick in Playa del Carmen a few years ago, so we definitely want to avoid a repeat of that. Just wondering if this is something we need to be aware of. thanks

The water on AC is potable. Having said, that many people use bottled water for drinking. We used tap water for brushing teeth, washing, etc. As far as restaurants, go we ate and drank whatever was put in front of us without a second thought. Never had a problem.

My husband makes coffee with tap water. We also use it for ice. But, it's not the greatest tasting, so, for drinking, we use bottled.

Also, if you're staying outside of town, find out if the place you're staying has city water, or, if they use a cistern.

Been here 7.5 years and never got sick from the water, use it for brushing teeth and basic things like boiling vegetables.

As Doug H said above the water from Consolidated is potable My thought is you do not always know what the pipes are like between the water plant and where you are. It was the same for us in downtown Toronto and in the summer when it was really hot we drank bottled water as you could smell a difference in what was coming from the tap.

The water won't get you sick. Was just there, and used it for coffee. It was very salty. The coffee was salt coffee. We all used bottled water. It's everywhere.
