Black Rock vs. Caves Branch

Any thoughts on staying at Black Rock lodge? We want to do Tikal and ATM, so we're not sure how distance might affect anything. Is Black Rock really that far off the beaten path? Or, any recommendations for a moderately priced jungle lodge? (under $200 per night, preferably much lower).

Both are great lodges. BRL is closer to Tikal, ATM is about 1/2 way between the two. duPlooys and Hidden Valley Inn have rooms for under $200.00, Crystal Paradise for even less $.

I would highly suggest Caves Branch. Their place is so unique- right in the middle of the jungle. It is such a lovely experience. Their adventures are the BEST, especially their waterfall cave expedition. Their guides have tremendous amounts of knowledge too. Caves Branch area is massive and is privately owned so only the Caves Branch lodge has access to these special, remote places. They offer both the ATM and Tikal tours. Have fun
