Advice on where to stay -- 3 nights on the mainland

Hi. Going to be in Belize for a week in January (female solo traveler, 41). Spending the first few days in Ambergris to dive. Want to do some jungle adventure as well (cave tubing etc.). Not sure whether to stay in town or at one of the lodges. Recommendations? Don't want to spend a ton, but certainly don't want to sleep in a tent either. Want comfort, authentic jungle experience and great guides for the tours (small groups etc. would be great!). Any advice welcome! Thanks!

Check out Macal River Camp; you can search for reviews here on TA and check out my photos in the 2003 Belize collection here:

For what it's worth, we like doing the inland part 1st and ending up on the water. Happy trails!

If you want an authentic jungle experience, you should not stay in town. Town is less expensive, because things are readily available. You should expect to spend more at an authentic jungle lodge.
