Belize City to Corozal

We will be flying into Belize City and would like to know the best way to get to Corozal. We are fine with buses but will have at least 3 large heavy bags. Is there any kind of shuttle that goes to Corozal? Thank you in advance for any info you have.

There are transfer services, but you'll have to contact them and arrange for one to meet you at the airport. I don't know if any of them standby at the airport. Expect to pay in the order of US$60 per person.

Here's my list...

a) Belize VIP Transfer Service, http://www.belizetransfers.com

b) George & Esther Moralez Travel Service,

http://www.gettransfers.com

c) Gibson’s Tours and Transfers,

d) William’s Belize Shuttle,

e) Discounted Belize Shuttles and Tours,

f) Belize Shuttles and Transfers,

Another idea...

At the airport, ask one of the taxi drivers about the fare to Corozal. I'd guess something like US$80 per taxi.

By bus...

You could taxi to the bus terminal in Belize City (BZ$50 per taxi) and then get a bus to Corozal (BZ$9 per passenger). Or just get a taxi from the airport out to the highway (BZ$10 to $15 for a distance of about 2.5 km), and wait at the side of the highway. All buses from Belize City will pass the airport on the way to Corozal. When a bus approaches, wave an arm up and down to get it to stop. Express buses will not stop.

More bus info...

Mister B266...thanks for all of that info.....sounds like taxi might be easiest for my husband and I. Can you please tell me if the taxis have meters? Do you barter like Mexico/ set a price before getting in? Yes, I'm a newbie to Belize....first time will be this March....

Taxis in Belize usually don’t have any markings (although this seems to be changing), and I haven’t yet seen one with a meter. They can be identified by a green license plate that displays, in white, the letter “D” followed by four digits.

Although taxis don't have meters, there are standard fees based on distance. The standard fare for short trips in most cities and towns is BZ$5.00 to $7.00 per taxi (not per passenger).

Fares for longer distances are often negotiable. For example, BC to Corozal might be something like BZ$150, but a taxi driver might quote BZ$200 to a tourist.

It would take less than an hour and a half to get to Corozal from the airport, depending on the driver. A private shuttle is usually much cheaper than a taxi, by the way.

A good option for travelling to some destinations is a transfer service. Here are some companies that offer a transfer/shuttle service:

a) Belize VIP Transfer Service, http://www.belizetransfers.com

b) George & Esther Moralez Travel Service, http://www.gettransfers.com

c) Gibson’s Tours and Transfers, www.gibsonstoursandtransfers.com/index.html

d) William’s Belize Shuttle, www.williamshuttlebelize.com/index.html

e) Discounted Belize Shuttles and Tours, discountedbelizeshuttlesandtours.com/index.h…

f) Mayan Heart World, http://www.mayanheartworld.net/index.html

g) Teddy Bear Shuttle, http://www.teddybearshuttle.com/

If you're going to Corozal, I'd suggest one of the first three on the list because they are based in Corozal.

Contact them directly to arrange travel and prices.
