Oxygen Jungle Villas - Uvita

We are interested in staying here but have some reservations about what there is to do in the town of Uvita. Are there restaurants or bars? Any kind of nightlife? Tour operators? How far away is Manuel Antonio from there, and what would the cost of a taxi be? Thank you!

Uvita is a very small little town...the most important reason to stay there, during this time of the year is to take the Whale watchig tour...no very good restaurants around...

It is far from Manuel Antonio...maybe 45 to one hour ...maybe a taxi will charge at least $75.00 each way.

Just buckle up and enjoy the ride in PARADISE!

Actually there are several excellent restaurants around Uvita, you will have a hard time choosing. Two very popular - Exotica and also Citrus. My fave is Chef's Table at Villas de las Aves, Sarah there is a gourmet chef and her husband Paul is a personable host. Call ahead as they only have dinners a few nights of the week and must be reserved. Also leave plenty early - the road is a little rough and for the first time you would want to get there in daylight, plus you'll have time to see all their birds and the beautiful rivers meeting up. Here is more info from their site - www.villasdelasaves.com/page/restaurant/

You will really need a car for the area, preferably a 4WD. Solid has good rates. There are many beaches around to choose from. A great day trip is Nauyaca Falls, horseback riding to a beautiful waterfall, with breakfast and lunch. Another great couple of hours could be spent at La Merced Reserve, I believe at mile marker 68, maybe 70, can't recall. They have a nice big reserve you can hike thru on your own, or take a guided hike or go horseback riding thru. Same goes for Hacienda Baru, which is just N of Dominical. Have a great trip!

If we don't want to rent a car, are there taxis and such available?

Hi,

Oxygen Jungle Villas are so beautiful. There is a lot to do nearby town as well, in Dominical. Which is about 10 minutes north of you. You can take cabs no problem.

In Uvita there are plenty of tour operators, you can go whale watching, kayaking, Cano Island, rainforest tours. The operators will pick you up at your hotel for free.

To MA it's about 1 hour and you can arrange something with your hotel.

Hope this helps,
