Caravan Tours

Does anyone know about Caravan's 10 day tour of Costa Rica.? How large are they usually? Good points/bad points. Any info on the hotels they use.

It's the best way we know to see the most in 10 days since we're not driving ourselves.

Please reply. Thanks.

Do a TA search "Caravan Tours"

www.caravan.com is a great value group tour provider

plus side you see a lot at good value

downside rigid schedule early AM bus calls lots of time

crammed in with folks you do not know.

Prefer to rent a car and self guide for freedom flexibility

with budget operators like www.gotmyfare.com

Really a matter of personal preference

if you like guided group tours go for it...

Have fun,

The tour is a maximum of about 44 people.

It's a nice tour and the hotels were nice, although I was at the Puntarenas Doubletree and they either have started going or will start going up to Guanacaste.

The good points are: - airport pick-up. No worrying about transporation or accomodations or meals, for that matter. The guides are knowledgable and if you choose to opt out of something- for example, about 15 people on the tour I was on went ziplining instead of going to Cano Negro- you can. And it is a well-known reliable company.

The downsides: well, you are with a tour.

it is a very nice way to see a country for the first time and sample what it has to offer.

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, they were booked on our 2 available start dates -- so now I'm packaging something with LatinDestinations. Not as complete and more expensive, especially when you add in food.

How about doing it yourselves with private and shared van transport.

I am working out our hotels + shuttle now. If it becomes too involved then I'll tell LatinDesitinations to go ahead with their plan.

Thanks for the reply.
