Tambor Beach or Tamarindo

We're heading to Costa Rica at the end of May but can't decide where to stay? I see Tambor is on the gulf side of CR and Tamarindo is on the Pacific coastline - - - does anyone have any suggestions? Where are the beaches better and more things to do?

Definitely more things to do in Tamarindo. It's a favourite also because it's often used as a base location for touring in the area. Plus by the end of May we'll be into the rainy season so Guanacaste will provide dryer weather.

I do not know about dryer weather...who knows now days about weather?

Tambor beach is basically one hotel...the All Inclusive Barcelo Playa Tambor ...

The beach is nice at Tamarindoi...but if I want to have a vacation in a more secluded place...with some nice beaches around like Montgezuma, Mal Pais, Santa Tereza...all about 40 minutes by car...great places to visit...I will stay at Playa Tambor!

Just buckle up and enjoy the ride in PARADISE!

Better beaches in Tamarindo, one mile long and a lot more to do in town. Take a look at an orientation to the area.

Hey Roadadvisor....there are more than one hotel in Tambor...what about Tango Mar Resort and Hotel? Plus there are many other small hotels and cabinas...it certainly isn't Tamarindo, but like you say, what do you want from your vacation?
