Itinerary advice: 11 days, Osa, Arenal, Monteverde, Montezum

Hey all - I've been reading the forum and it's been extremely useful in planning my Costa Rica trip. We're going in less than a month - end of April. I've mapped out this itinerary and need your advice - is it reasonable, or trying to squeeze in too much? I opted for flying instead of driving to save time between locations. Looking forward to your comments!!!

day 1: Fly into San Jose at 9:20AM, take Sansa 12:05 PM flight to Puerto Jimenez, stay in hotel somewhere in Osa

day 2: Leave for hike to Corcovado, overnight at Ranger Station

day 3: Back to civilization from Corcovado hike, overnight somewhere in Osa

day 4: Fly Puerto Jimenez -> Arenal (with one stop, 9:30 AM-12:45 PM), arrive in Arenal

day 5: Arenal

day 6: Arenal

day 7: leave Arenal for Monteverde (arrange transfer - drive/boat?)

day 8: Monteverde

day 9: leave Monteverde for Montezuma (arrange transfer)

day 10: Montezuma

day 11: fly out of Tambor (12:30 PM flight) to San Jose (departing flight @ 5:25 PM)

You can do it but it is a long way to Montezuma for just one day.

Nice itinerary...maybe Carate beach by the park entrance...Corcovado is just incredible...I just drove back from Carate a few minutes ago...every time I go is better!

Looks ok have never seen anyone

with all those flights make them all without delays..

so way too many airports and flights for me

To save hundreds of dollars see more be more flexible rent a nice car

and journey overland...or do suttles/driver will be more $ but still nice

Thank you all for your advice and comments! I agree that I'm trying to do too much - and have decided to cut out Monteverde from my itinerary (hope I made the right choice). So I'm left with: 4 nights in Osa, 3 nights at Arenal and 3 nights at a beach location.

Now, I need help with beach - I'm not set on Montezuma since it seems particularly hard to get too (although it sounds like pure paradise!). Is there a nice beach in Osa? I'm looking for swimmable, sand beach, and a nice (not over the top, but nice) hotel. If I go to Tamarindo instead of Montezuma, would that make transportation easier? Which beach do you recommend that's close to my other two destinations (Osa and Arenal)?

If you could, I would recommend to staick to a beach closer to Osa like Manuel Antonio, you would save time traveling.

MA is a great beach!

Hope this helps,

In that case, head to Tamarindo, it's fun and accessible!

There are some great little places you can rent at Matapalo (about halfway between Puerto Jimenez and Carate), if you don't mind cooking your own food. Pan Dulce is the nicest beach at Matapalo and very often deserted. Very quiet though, not much in nightlife, but lots of wildlife.
