Family to Costa Rica- what area is best?

We want to go to Costa Rica with 3 families (kids ages 8-14). We'd like to go to an all inclusive resort on the beach within an hour of an int'l airport. We will likely stay pretty close to the hotel for excursions due to the size of our group (maybe due some fishing, shopping and sightseeing). We need help finding an area to go!!! I can't figure out what areas are the best and meets our needs. Can someone help enlighten me where to concentrate my search?

Try Tamarindo Beach as it has several all-inclusives. Just because you have have three families doesn't mean you necessarily need to stay in a hotel. For example, there is a group of 30 people right now in Tamarindo staying together at a vacation rental villa; this arrangement is saving them lots of money.

Agreed with surfsponge...Guanacaste area offer some great AI...like Paradisus Playa Conchal...and Barcelo Playa Langosta...
