Christmas and New Years in Costa Rica - Help and Advise

Husband told me this morning that I should book a holiday for us over Christmas and New Years!!

I know its a very busy time of year and Im worried because I don't have any idea where to start and Im worried that all the nice spots will be booked up already.

Our time will be approximately Dec 18 - Jan 1.

We are a family of 4 - daughter 21 and son 15 years old.

We like 4 * (or plus) hotels/ resorts and All Inclusive would be a great bonus.

We like to take it easy when on holidays... not hop from one hotel/resort to another.. we prefer staying at least 4 or 5 days in one spot not being on the road 24/7 and go, go, go.

We love beautiful beaches, but we do like do fun excursions.... ziplining, volcano, surfing, snorkeling, etc.

My husband has seen the awesome fishing on TV and would definitely want to go fishing two or three days... probably more if he got to book the trip.

I really need your help and advise to get me started with our 2 week itinerary. I hope that Im not to late with my booking.

Thank you very much for your time, I do appreciate.

Start here: www.govisitcostarica.com

Then look at -- www.nicoyapeninsula.com

www.arenal.net

Playa Flamingo especially good for fishing. But really any of the Pacific towns will have good fishing available - or in a nearby town.

For AI, just Google Costa Rica All Inclusive and you will get a good list. The best are the Westin Paradisus, Four Seasons and Punta Islita.

If you have never have visited CR before, you should consider spending a few days in Areanal/La Fortuna area and then some beach time. For beach Manuel Antonio and Tamarindo on the Pacific side are popular with tourists, while Puerto Viejo area gets the bulk of visitors on the Caribbean side. Arguably, the best sport fishing is from the Pacific, unless you want to fish for Snook and Tarpon, best on Caribbean side.

Now is a good time to begin planning, as this year is shaping up as a busy year for tourism. From what you've mentioned, Tamarindo fits what you're saying. So, here are some orientation links to the area:

5. Re: Christmas and New Years in Costa Rica - Help and Advise

Thank you very much for the great information.

I have another question:

Would we be able to do Arenal, Quepos and Tamarindo (5 or 6 nights in Tamarindo) in 2 weeks? Or would we be driving to much? Suggestions?

Thanks
