Couple of last minute questions for a 1st timer

1-Should I get Colons for the trip or do people accept USD? I imagine it's probably better to get some colons here before leaving.

2-How easy are grocery stores to find? and what would be the chain to look for?

Do not get colones there!!

US$$ is widely accepted here and you will get change in colones, but if using $$ you won't get the best rate. Go to an ATM when you get here and get colones at that time.

Stores are easy to find in the larger cities...AM/PM, Super Marcado, Mas por Menos, .....many others. There are also little stores with basics and produce everywhere.

Where specifically are you going? Are you wanting to find a grocery store near the airport and if so, what airport are you coming into?

Don't get colones before you leave home, it will be expensive. You can easily use US dollars or get colones from an ATM at the airport or any one of a jillion ATM's throughout the country.

Grocery stores are everywhere. There are several chains - but - like surfsponger, I am wondering about this. Where would you be going and why would you need information about grocery stores?

Agreed with every body about exchanging money only once you are in Costa Rica...at a local bank...

Grocery stores everywhere...some even better than many Canadian or USA markets!
