US Passport/ Customs Question

Hi Everyone, Someone is my travel group has had a couple of DUI's. They were denied entrance to Canada on one occassion. They are worried they will not be able to go to costa rica because of this. Is there a number they can call to confirm? I'm positive it won't be an issue but they are concerned. I'm assuming the denial to canada was because the us/canada share driving records. Any information would be greatly appreciated. And just FYI, they will not be driving in Costa Rica!!!

Thanks for the "NOT DRIVING in CR" bit... comforting...

I think you will be fine, you will need to call the embassy to ensure this is the case but I can't imagine them stopping you from entering on a charge like that.

Check here http://costarica.usembassy.gov/contact.html they should know

Ask the Costa Rica consulate to make sure. But I think they will be allowed to enter CR with no problems.

No problem at all to get into Costa Rica with a DIU record...our customs -migration computer system is not linked to any USA migration or criminal records data system.

Just tell you friend that if he-she gets a DIU in our country...it can be painfull...and some paper work..to go back to USA!

You're correct in your assumption. Canada is tough that way. Last time I checked, no problem for Costa Rica.
