Tamarindo

Hi, I'm going to Costa Rica in December, and was going to ask if it is possible to rent a moped (scooter) in Tamarindo. Does anyone know what it costs per day and how much is a liter of petrol there??

Thank you for all the answers

I've not seen a place that rents scooters there but I'm sure SurfSponger or others who live in that area can tell you for sure. I do know that you can rent 4x4 and motorcycles (see http://www.wild-rider.com/motorcycle-rental-rates/) for rates. Last I checked, the cost or gas comes out to about $6 per gallon (which is a lot but renting a scooter or bike would definitely be a lot less than filing up a big 4x4 SUV)! Enjoy!

Hi Wendy,

Thank you very much for your help. I checked the link you sent, but only Cars and Motorcycle Rental. None scooter they have.

Why, I wonder if there are scooters for rent, why we should book htell El Sabanero Eco-Lodge and is located approx. 11km from town. then we will commute between the hotel and other places. And to take a taxi, so I heard that it is quite expensive. In order for us to go twice a day for 10 days stay in Tamarindo.

I'd stay in Tamarindo, save the time and expense.

I agree, but have searched almost every hotel in central location. So either it was too expensive or cheap and crap. And what was in between, there were no rooms available during that time we are there

I don't know what your budget can afford but have you tried condo vacation rentals? There are many available in Tamarindo. Check out the vacation rentals right here in Trip Advisor, or http://www.vrbo.com/ , http://www.flipkey.com/ , or http://www.vacationrentalsoftamarindo.com/ .

You can also save money by having a kitchen to prepare some meals instead of eating out for every meal.
