Private Message Guidelines

I'm hearing that some people have received Private Messages through Trip Advisor from businesses offering their services.

Everyone should know that under the TA guidelines, this specifically forbidden.

"No Soliciting - Private messages should not contain promotional material, special offers, or solicitation for services." from the Guidelines.

If you should receive such a message, please report this to Trip Advisor. One way to do this is to go to the Private Message area of your account, mark the message and click on "Report Spam."

Great point Hattie! Be very carful some scammers operate via spam on PM I would be very suspicious of any service/accommodation offered via PM spam as it is against guidelines and us such brings into question the ethics and reliability of such company. Many great above board legit companies that will not spam your PM.

I agree 100%, anyone contacting you by PM pushing any company or contacting you and bad mouthing a company is not on the level.

This sort of behavior is done by people who are either connected with a company, or in direct competition with companies in CR.

Either way it's bad news - Report them, and enjoy the forum in all its glory!

Cheers

Thanks for the reminder, Hattie. Sometimes it feels like the 'wild west' on TA as people seem to think or act like they can do whatever they feel like doing!

Please do report any advertisements received in private messages as spam.

That stinks. They think they're being clever, but it's just plain dishonest.
