travelers cheques

Leaving for CR on Friday. My husband still likes to use travelers cheques when we travel, but we are finding more and more places do not accept them. Does

anyone know if they are widely accepted in CR or not? Thanks :)

No they are not really accepted. You can only change them on a few banks and they charge you a fee to do so.

Definitely not. Many banks in Costa Rica won't even cash them much less hotesl or restaurants. Forget travelers checks and bring a mix of cash, credit cards and a debit card. Be sure and notify credit card companies and bank that you will be out of the country.

Nope. We brought them on our first trip, and they were not readily accepted.

Not accepted except a few banks and there is a fee. Some people I know use Visa Travel Money Card: …visa.com/personal/…visa_travel_money.html
