Best Rental Car company in Costa Rica

Service Rental Car. We recently spent a week in Coast Rica. We rented a Toyota SUV from Service Rent-a-Car. Vehicle was very clean and almost new. Not like the old "clunkers" we had rented in many previous trips. They were as good (and honest) as any rental car company in the US. We hit a pothole, damaging a plastic shield under the left side of the front bumper on the way to Dominical. When we returned the car, we showed it to them, expecting a good sized bill. They said, "no problem". "We can re-attach it with two screw-in rivets". Then they drove us to the San Jose hotel we had reserved for our last night. No charge!

Nice to hear about a good customer service by Service. However, I would not title it "The best". Every company has its ups and downs so "Very good" is more appropriate. BTW, what are the other companies Service was measured against?

Thanks for your helpful review. Service do receive good reviews usually, but it is always useful to have up-to-date responses to their company. 16 trips? You must be getting ready to move here!

We had good luck with National car rental. The car was newer, they set up our GPS for us with all main attractions we would go to programmed in the favorites section, and most importantly they didn't smack us with any hidden charges!

We've used Hertz, Budget, and Solid car rentals while in C.R. All of them were good.

Will have to look into them. So far we have gotten 2 quotes from Vamos and Wild Rider for our trip in June/July.

I heard good things about Best rental car, but chose to go with BeGo Rental Car (http://begocarrental.com/). We worked directly with the owner, Marvin, and I have to say they were the most reliable part of our trip.

He brought the car to our hotel and picked it up after our trip at the airport. They are very competitive with pricing, very honest, and have incredible service. I'll rent with them again without question!

We hired a Daihatsu Bego 4x4 from Wild Rider in San Jose. We were driving for 6,5 weeks and we had no problems. In the office of them (Paso Colon) they give a lot of information about the car, the roads, the difficult point and they give answer on all your questions. The Insurance is included, the 2 drivers are included, no excess. If you want you can buy an all risk Insurance. We didn't.

we were happy, even in the drier saison, that we hired a 4x4 because a lot of side roads have a lot of stones and are rough to drive. This car has an higher clearance than a saloon car, that's very important. Even to visit Arenal National Park
