Driving in July

I am going to Costa Rica for the first time in early July and was wondering if driving from the Airport in San Jose to La Fortuna to Manuel Antonio Park back to the airport an OK plan?

Any comments are appreciated.

Sorry one more thing, is 4WD advised for the trip above?

Yes, that's a good plan. A 4x4 is not needed as all roads are paved for your routes.

Agree with Allylam...you do not need a 4x4 at all...great roads...of course common sense..

A good plan, an easy enough drive. My suggestion, use a GPS. This will make your trip a great deal more pleasant. If you have a GPS you can go online and load maps for CR and save a fair amount over the daily rental of one. You do not need a 4x4, a sedan with a trunk is much better as you can keep anything you might be carrying with you out of sight in the trunk.

Another suggestion, drive at or below the posted speed limits, the transito police will be out there working their radar and would love nothing more than to seperate you from some of your money.

Safe travels!
