Directions from SJO to Westin Playa Conchal? Good stops?

Hello,

For 2 inexperienced traveler drivers, what would be your driving route suggestion from SJO to the Westin in Playa Conchal? Also, any cool places you'd recommend stopping along the way to get some lunch? The more scenic the better! Thanks!

This might help: yourtravelmap.com/costarica/…

It's really pretty easy. Get on Rt 1 going north and follow that to Limonal. You will see signs for the turnoff to Nicoya and the Friendship Bridge. This is a good place to stop. There are three restaurants here -- the best is Las Tres Hermanas which has the best BBQ around and other good stuff. You will probably see a lot of Interbus vans at the small places across the highway from Las Tres Hermanas since this is a popular stop for them.

Turn and go across the Friendship Bridge and follow the signs to Conchal, Flamingo, Brasilito. Before reaching Brasilito, you will see signs for the Westin which will be on your left. guanacastetogo.com/conchal-costa-rica/map/ is a great map of the whole area.

Agree with Hattie...but you also can take road 27 all the way to Barranca...then take Pan Am Hwy...all the way to Limonal...stop for a good steak at 3 Hermanas...take the Friendship bridge ...drive to Nicoya...then to Santa Ctuz...there take the road to Tamarindo...and follow signs to Conchal...WELCOME to Westin ! About 4 hours ride without the lunch break!

Maybe it is just me but I find is difficult to get to route 27 from the airport. Route 1 is simple - even for a first timer.

It's not just you. Once you have done 27 successfully, it's no big deal. But for a first timer, it's a definite challenge.

Agree with Cana Tico...for most people is hard to get into road 27 from SJO...the best way I explain to my amigos...drive from SJO toward San Jose...drive by Nissan car dealer ...keep going until you see a huge Mc Donals and there at National Gymnasium make a right now you are in 27 just keep going and get ready to pay some tolls...you can pay with small $$ bills and of course Colones...nice road...!

Just buckle up an enjoy the ride in PARADISE!
