I am considering going to Costa Rica with costa Rica Expeditions. Does anybody have any experience with them--good or bad ?

hi gertrude, i travelled to costa rica many times and i have seen almost every part of the country and i always made best experiences with a different agency which is called costa rica te enamora. you can look it up in the net and it might give you a second choice. super experienced people with good ideas and alternative routes, always ready to support you for anything.

Gertrund , I am sorry I am posting here , but I tried to post about the same subject some time ago and I didnt succeed.I am between CRS and Costa Rica tours, for a trip of 12 nights. They both have the same destinations, about the same hotels and more or less the same prices. One is with private transfers, the other shuttle.Does anyone have any opinion about these agencies? I checked also Expeditions, but it was much more expensive. Are they really so different?Again sorry, Gertrund!

Costa Rica Expeditions is a good company but they are not cheap. As far as I know they charge for planning which is not really the norm. They are billed as a high end agency, I have never heard anything bad about them. I know quite a few folks who have used them but as I said they are not cheap. These are some companies I like here.

Horizontes – http://www.horizontes.com/eng/ - Very green company, offers packages, involved with community programs, good company & good folks

Crreferals – http://www.crreferrals.com/ - Good for custom planning, has packages, involved with animal rescue, good company & good folks

Actuar - www.actuarcostarica.com/app/cms/www/index.php Off the beaten path rural tourism, involved with community programs, good company, good folks.

Costa Rica Birding Journeys - http://www.costaricabirdingjourneys.org/ - Specializes in guided birding excursions. Great guides, very knowledgeable, good folks

Caravan – http://www.caravan.com/ - Best for larger group tours up to 30. Excellent reputation and well respected. Awesome at what they do.

Its so much better to see Costa Rica on your own, without the timetable and rushing of a tour. You can book everything on your own with help of good travel book, internet, and forums such at TA.

Ask for a dailly break down...no break down find somebody else ...you may be surprise of some huge prices... ...and then ask for diferent quotes involving same hotels and tours...just in case ...in this way you do not have to pay more for the same!

Many good tour operators in Costa Rica...many!
