Cheap hotels in Puerto Viejo

I have to do a visa run tomorrow and I usually stay at Hotel Puerto Viejo because its only 10 dollars a person so if I am traveling alone I get my own room. Are there other places around that price range for a single room? The HPV is getting fairly glum and I would love to change up my scene a little.

I agree on HPV, your best search would be through puertoviejosatellite.com but I am sure you know the site.

He said its 20 a night.

Cabinas Jenny in Cahuita has a ground floor room for $20 a night, at the end of the main street on the left, right on the water.

Yaz? Doesn't ring a bell I'm afraid. Maybe Calypso next to Kawe Soda where you can get a cheap room and use the shared kitchen. Jenny's is a lovely view and breeze if you can stretch to $20. Isn't Rocking J's hammock option the cheapest around? Invest in a tent and stay at the reggae bar if it is a regular trip. Cheap with a beach view and relaxing music.

I found it, http://www.cahuita.cr/hotels/vaz.html but it looks to be 30 and up. I think I will look into Jenny. Im a little old for Rockin J's and I cant sleep in hammocks. If they had cheap private rooms I would do it. One of the reasons I want to do Cahuita is because I always go to PV and I want to explore somewhere else. Thanks for the suggestion.

No wonder, Vaz is with a swimming pool and all kinds of stuff to boost the price up. I checked Calypso too and their starting price is $20 as well. Seems like a standard. Try Villas Delmar and Linda's Secret Garden which are both on the turning to the right after Sol y Mar before the National Park - Sol y Mar might also have a cheaper option, but as low as $10? Maybe not.

I ended up staying at Hotel Vaz because it was empty, I talked them down to 20 a night for a super nice upstairs room, and when I got to Cahuita the sun was so intense I didnt want to walk around with my luggage. All in all it was a great deal. Nothing like having a whole hotel to yourself and floating in the pool at 2 in the morning.
