Arenal and Manuel Antonio -- which to go first or second?

My husband and I are planning a trip to Arenal and Manuel Antonio. We are looking to spend about 4 nights at each place, but don't know which destination to go to first. Please share any input to help with the decision. Thank you!

We started in Arenal, for the activities like zip-lining, cano negro tour, etc. Then drove to Manuel Antonio for the more-relaxing beach experience, restaurants, etc..

Thank you -- how many nights did you do at each?

Really depends on how would you like to start/end your vacations. They are very different in essence. However, Arenal area is offering more different activities then MA thus staying longer in Arenal is advisable.

Yes most people tend to go for the "adventure" portion here in La Fortuna/Volcano Arenal area. People are always saying they wished they spent more time here because there is SO much to do. I would do 5 nights in La Fortuna and 3 nights in Manuel Antonio...plus it's much hotter down at the beach and much cooler (and comfortable) in La Fortuna. :-)

ENJOY!
