Driving from Nosara to Santa Teresa

We will be driving from Nosara to Santa Teresa and are wondering if there are any note worthy places to stop along the way - beaches, restaurants, activities etc.. And any other helpful hints about the drive would be great! We are doing in December. Thank you!

You are asking about driving along road 160, yes? If so, first advice is to get a true 4x4 car. Not only that the road is gravel after Playa Carillo, also there are river crossings involved.

Soon after leaving Nosara there is Samara, very nice small Tico beach town. Get your water and snacks here, walk the beach. 15 min away is Playa Carillo, one of more "caribbean style" beaches in Costa Rica. After that, nothing that can be described as even a cluster of houses. You might check Playa islita or even turn off for short ride to Playa Coyote. Crossing Rio Bongo might be an adventure by itself, depending on rainfall (if any). The road turns inland, through some pasture lands. Be careful not to miss the turn off for Santa Teresa. If you will end up in Cobano, just make a U-turn and follow the signs for Santa Teresa.

Travel with enough water, and have a functional spare tyre with you as there is not much traffic on this section of road 160. Drive slowly, better views and much less dust in car.
