still no airfare

We are renting a house for 3 weeks in tamarindo.Starting the first week in jan.I still havent secured airfare. It seems like i should of 3 weeks ago.Prices were somewhat cheaper. Now they seem rather high. What is the longest you would wait.I think one would need a crystal ball to know if they will go on sale, but i would hate to pay too much and the next day they go on sale.

flboy60 -- it's just a crap shoot! For that time of year, I don't think you can expect any cheap prices. You can try looking here: http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ to see what you can find. At this website, you can get a month's worth of the lowest fares for every day.

Also - I have read some recommendations that say the best time to buy is early Sunday morning so you might check that out.

Once you have bought your ticket, don't look back! NEVER NEVER go and check to see if you could have gotten a better deal!

Of course if you are in the New York area, you know to check all the airports, yes?

Just checked Spirit - don't know your exact dates and flights would be into San Jose - but rates seem pretty good for early Jan at under $400pp.

The cheapest flights are more than three months or less than three weeks. Tues and Thurs flights are the cheapest. Very rarely do I fly Sat and Sun. I almost always pay <$500 to go into LIR for my family.
