Costa Rica- Where to go???

We planning on renting a house in Costa Rica with our four adult children and spouses and we are trying to decide where to stay. We want access to the beach and we would like to see wildlife around the house. I've seen pictures of rental houses with monkeys and birds and we love the idea of this. It would be great to be near a town with some restaurants and shopping as well. Currently, I'm looking at a house near Tamarindo, but unsure that it's the right spot. Any suggestions???

Generally the more undeveloped beach towns will present better opportunities for wildlife spotting. However Tamarindo is a beautiful beach and great for shopping and restaurants and is well located for trips to National Parks such as Las Baulas, Rincon de la Vieja, and Palo Verde. Also very convenient if flying into Liberia International airport at 1 hour drive. Check the weather for the period you intend to visit, there are distinct wet and dry seasons.
